About 350-400 Ukrainian protestors gathered at the Water Tower and then marched about a half mile to the Ukraine Consulate. Their goal was to raise awareness about what they say has been the slaughter of innocents and the tyranny of a dictator who went back on his word. As of this moment there is news of a possible settlement between opposition forces in Kiev and the president, but it’s a fluid situation. Some Ukrainian protestors say there can be no deal until Ukrainian Pres Viktor F Yanukovych is either dead or leaves office.

Another day in Chicago, another snowstorm
I’m not sure about the exact number, but I believe this makes 10, the number of major snow dumps since New Year’s Eve. I still love being in the snow, but I don’t have to drive or commute. People are stressed and tired of it and I can’t say I blame them. This is my fifth winter in Chicago and by far the coldest one with the most snow. The temperature got up to 39 degrees today and on Thursday could bump 50, but the respite will be short. Single digit temperatures will be back at the tail end of the weekend and into early next week. If it’s going to be cold, I say let it show, let it snow, let it snow.

Teaching public speaking at Senn High School. Older teenagers are hysterical. The naughty ones are the best. Bite ’em hard early and often and they become really fine learners.
Madonna della Strada
The Madonna della Strada is the heart and soul of Loyola University Chicago’s Lake Shore campus. Madonna della Strada is a chapel on the campus of Loyola University Chicago in the neighborhood of Rogers Park, Chicago: it is named after the motherchurch of the Jesuit Province of Chicago (one of the largest Jesuit provinces). The chapel was built on the lakefront with the waters of Lake Michigan directly at its front doorstep. The church was designed and built at a time when it was anticipated that Lake Shore Drive would be extended and pass directly in front, but that project was abandoned.
Renovation of Madonna della Strada began in July 2006 and concluded in August 2007.Several chapel churches in Latin America were named after the chapel church in Chicago, as a tribute to Loyola University Chicago Jesuit and student missionaries. The Madonna Della Strada Chapel is the main chapel on the Lake Shore Campus of Loyola University Chicago. The chapel was designed in the Art Deco Style and opened its doors to the Loyola University Chicago Community in 1938.
